I’ve tried making resolutions in the past. I’ve kept some, broken others. Rather than make a bunch and see what happens, I have three simple goals for 2014. Each deals with something I enjoy, but have neglected as of late.
Write everyday. I’ve gotten away from one of my favorite activities – writing. I know I won’t have time every day to write, but I’m trying the Seinfeld “don’t break the chain” technique to write as often as possible. My goal is to establish a time everyday devoted to writing and stick to it.
Create something each week. 2013 was about learning. 2014 is about building. It’s about creativity and making new things. I plan to produce a mix of writing, web/app design video and anything else cool I can come up with. Some will be big, others quick and easy. As my first creation, I made a timeline to track my projects through the year.
Read more. With 2013 being a learning-based year, most books were of the educational variety. Because of this, I associated reading as work, instead of something wonderful. I plan to keep track of what I read in 2014, and make it a bit more fun. You can follow my progress at my booklikes account.
I also contemplated a goal of procrastinating less, but I think I’ll save that one for next year.
