Occasionally we do stupid things in life. Sometimes we do them more than once.
When that lunacy is for a cause you truly believe in, you don’t think twice about doing it again.
For the first time since 2009, I’ll be participating in the Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics of Wisconsin. This time, I’ll be joined by two suckers…er…friends for my jump, Jen and Josh. You can donate to help me make my goal here.
Special Olympics is an organization close to my heart. It provides individuals with down syndrome a chance to compete and train. It increases public awareness of the disorder, and the capabilities of those with it. My cousin has down syndrome, and participated for many years. It helped her gain confidence in herself and her abilities. Since I last jumped, I had another close cousin born with the disorder, and I want to make sure she has the same chance to participate.
During my first jump, I wrote this article for Dane101 about the experience. Assuming I make my goal this year, I will write about the experience again, and include video.
To assure this happens, donate here! It’s tax deductible, and goes towards a good cause. Me jumping in freezing water. Also, Special Olympics of Wisconsin.
